Next Friday, September 21st, there will be no class as I want you to participate in Career Day and have a few one-on-one interviews.
Our speaker is Ms. Ardie Harrison, President of the Atlanta Chapter of the National Association of African Americans in Human Resources.

Assignment:
Write a report about your experience during Career Day. Include a picture of yourself in business attire. Include (but not limited to) in this report:
- Experience of one-on-one interviews
- Your Business Attire (remember include a picture in your report)
- Your Resume
- Ask recruiters their opinion of your attire, resume and interview skills. Ask how you can improve. Take any critique as helpful and not personal. Remember.." its not personal, its business". I want you to continually improve your interview skills.
- Did you see other student's making mistakes?
- How can you improve?
I loved the guest speaker's advice! I found it really helpful when she told us what things they aren't allowed to ask us in an interview. Such as have we ever been arrested or do we plan on having children.

ReplyDeleteI really learnt a lot from Ms. Harrison. I never really went on an interview, so her tips and tricks was very useful in preparing me for career day.

I'm glad Ms. Harrison came in to talk to us about interview skills, what to do and what not to do during an interview. All the tips she gave us were very helpful and I learned more skills for different types of interviews which will help me in the future one of them being for career day this Friday September 21, 2018.
ReplyDeleteI most definitely enjoyed Ms. Harrison presentation because it gave me a better understanding about interview and what they mostly look for. Specially, "tell me about yourself question" was always difficult for me to answer. She really prepare me for the next interview I attend.

ReplyDeleteMs. Harrison did a tremendous job explaining what is involved in interviews, she has also helped me understand what to do and what not to do when in an interview.

ReplyDeleteI learned a lot about my resume from the speaker on September 7. Because of her I was able to get my resume done for the career fair and I got a lot of good feedback from it.
ReplyDeleteIt's great to hear from different speakers to learn new tips and what to expect in an interview. This guest speaker stood out because she also brought forward illegal questions that should not be asked in an interview.

Listening to Ms.Harrison advice on interviews and resumes i was intrigued to learn new tips on resumes and when your entering a interview. I have improved as individual when attending a interview.

During this lecture I learned a lot of the things that I thought were okay to do during an interview actually weren't. I also learned that its good to practice interviewing before the actual interview. Its a big help to do research on the company you are interviewing for which I didn't know.
