10 Year Life Plan
My suggestion for a good grade. Do not wait until the last minute.
Due: Thursday September 13th by 11.59 pm

Assignment: Write a report laying out your 10 year life plan.
Take your time and think about this subject. Do not wait until the last minute and write a quick bullet point report saying, " I am going to do...this....this..."
Watch this short video.
Do not write just a set of goals. Include the steps that you will take to get to your 10 year goals.
Remember when you decided to go to college (a goal)? What were the steps you know you needed to accomplish that goal.
Cover at least the following areas:
- Changes both physical and mental including changes in behavior
- Health/Wellness
- Education
- Career
- Financial
- Family
- Social
Here is an example of a Career 10 year plan. This example is limited to just the area of your career and I want your report in a narrative format and not an outline format, but this example might help you think about your report.
Create a table, like the one below, to build an outline from which you can write your Life Plan Report.
If you use the about table to build an outline. Do not submit the outline. Use the outline to write your plan.

ReplyDeleteI found it somewhat difficult to complete this assignment only because I recently decided on my career that I would like to pursue and I wasn't completely sure on the specific steps I needed.to take to get to that point.
ReplyDeleteThis 10 year plan helped me really think about what I wanted to do with my life after I graduated from undergrad. It also helped me really think about different perspectives in life and which route I want to take and what I see myself doing in the 10 next years.

DeleteI had a love hate relationship with this assignment. It was important because each student was able to think about their future and create a plan for their life. Students were able to think about their life after college. On the other hand, I did not care for the assignment because things in life do not always go as planned and if you have a life plan mapped out and it does not go as planned this can be discouraging. So, in certain aspects the assignment was positive but it was also negative.

I enjoyed doing this 10 year plan assignment however me personally I try to not live in the future. Living in the future or even planning for the future to me seems to be a gamble because you never truly know how the future will go. If just one thing in your life changes all your plans could be potentially ruined.

ReplyDeleteThis 10 year plan really made me think deeply about what I wanted to do with my life in the next years and what I see myself doing. It was very helpful to me because I made attainable goals for myself that I can achieve in the next 10 years. There might be times that an obstacle could get in the way but looking ahead of time (10 years) from now I see myself doing great things in my life.

ReplyDeleteI loved the assignment, it helped me realize things I never really thought about regarding my future and my life. And I was able to really put down how I want my life to be within the next few years, and it was very empowering. I had a very hard time with this assignment. I kept getting stuck of listing goals rather than setting a plan. It did help me get on the right track of starting to think about my life and what’s my purpose.

The presentation helped broaden my knowledge about resume's and cover letter's. Since I began my college career, I was taught a certain format, and I was taught to not include color, designs, and photos on my resume. However, with the help of the presentation I was able to upgrade my resume and create a better product to go against competition.

Of course everyone wants their future to be successful and promising and don't take into consideration the negativities. ReplyDeleteThe best thing I grasped from this lesson was to be prepared and have more than one resume to show that you are qualified in more than one field of business. One resume is not enough especially as a well-rounded individual. This shows that you can do multiple things and also a fast learner.

ReplyDeleteThe ten year plan allowed me to see which goals I had that were unrealistic and work towards the ones that were. I had already developed my own ten year plan previously but going over it and re-evaluating it helped to re-determine my plan.
The 10 year plan assignment helped me because it helped me realize what I have planned for the next couple of years. Also the lecture on resumes helped me update my resume for an interview I had and I ended up getting the job. This was a great class.

So I just post my biggest goals and then I expanded on those . This taught me that I have a lot of planning todo , now that I have an idea of what the working world has to offer .
